Peridontics

Periodontics is that specialty of dentistry which encompasses the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the supporting and surrounding tissues of the teeth or their substitutes; the replacement of lost teeth and supporting structures by regeneration, tissue engineering, implantation of natural and/or synthetic devices and materials; and the maintenance of the health, function and esthetics of these tissues and structures.

Scaling and Root Planing

This procedure is done to remove deposits from the tooth surface and root pockets to improve gum health and its attachment to the tooth.  Plaque is always formed on a tooth; it is removed by daily brushing and flossing. When not cleaned properly, the bacteria in the plaque causes gums to inflame. This may lead to bleeding and the formation of pockets which leads to a collection of food between teeth.

It is done using ultrasonic cleaning instruments.  Careful removal of plaque and calculus is done from root surfaces and deep periodontal pockets to smoothen tooth root and strengthen the attachment of gums.

Dental Jewellery

Dental Crystal or dental jewelry is an elective procedure whereby a gem or crystal is embedded into the upper front tooth or teeth in order to enhance the appearance of a person. It is mostly done on female candidates who are willing for this procedure and wants to enhance beauty or smile. It gives self-confidence to a person.

Lumineers and Veneers

Laminates and Veneers are often synonymous with each other though there is a difference. Lumineers are thin shells and sections of ceramics that do not require tooth preparation on other hand veneers can either be laboratory made or made directly inside the mouth with composites and usually require preparation and cutting of teeth.

Lumineers and Veneers are given to improve perfect smile and good esthetics.

Veneers are given after preparation of the teeth and ofen placed to mask the discoloured, irregularities and abnormal shape of the teeth. Veneers are very technique sensitive and costly as compared to crown.

Lumineers are also technique sensitive, and cost factor is high, but it does not require cutting of the teeth. They can be applied with ease but at times look more bulkier than veneers. For more details Kindly contact us.

Advantages for Veneers and Lumineers:

1) They can improve the appearance of misaligned teeth

2) They are used to cover the gap between front teeth

3) They do not stain or discolour with time

4) They can be used to hide the cracked or chipped tooth

5) They provide much better esthetics as compared to traditional fillings

Tooth Coloured Fillings

Usually composite or Glass ionomer are used as tooth coloured fillings. With the availability of new and improved material such as resin based composite or RMGIC, it is virtually impossible for patients to distinguish between natural teeth and tooth filled or restored with such white coloured fillings. With the different shades available a tooth can be modifies and restored with different material, i.e., opaque and translucent which gives pleasing and natural appearance to the tooth.

Crown Lengthening

Lengthening of the crown is also very important aspect of cosmetic dentistry. In the patients with short clinical

crown or in those whose upper front teeth are visible less during smiling, this procedure can be done. It is done by excising the gums to expose more of the crown portion of the tooth so give a better smile and thus better personality. For further info kindly contact us

Smile Makeover

This is done by the combination of factors such as Crown lengthening, Dental jewellery, teeth whitening, Botox and fillers, Lumineers, Veneers, Orthodontic treatment, etc
